During the week dedicated to the European Union (1 to 9 May) the exposition of our country at the World Exhibition was visited by the alltime high number of people – about 90 thousand, and the total number of visitors to Lithuania’s pavilion since the opening of the Exhibition is about 300 thousand people. Various events and campaigns were organised during the week initiated by the delegation of the European Commission to Japan. One of the most popular campaigns was attaching seals to the EU “passports”. All visitors of the Exhibition having visited five of the pavilions of the EU Member States and collected their seals in “the passport” were given special prizes from the delegation of the European Commission.
To win the main prize – a journey to Brussels, the EU capital – one had to collect the seals of ten of the EU Member States. The campaign of sealing will be finished on 9 May in Poland’s pavilion when Poland will be celebrating its National Day. The lucky ticket winning the journey to Brussels was also determined here. Fortune smiled to a seven-year-old Japanese boy who got his tenth seal in his EU “passport” which allowed him taking part in the competition for the prize in Lithuania’s pavilion.
Quite a few dignified guests have been among the numerous visitors of our country’s exposition. Several days ago the pavilion of Lithuania was visited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Laila Freivalds. The Director of the pavilion at EXPO 2005 World Exhibition Sandra Adomavičiűtë is happy that the Minister having selected only few of the 121 pavilions at the World Exhibition expressed willingness to view our exposition as well. The satisfaction of the dignified guest was proved by a letter of gratitude received by the staff of Lithuania’s pavilion just yesterday, on 11 May. It expressed thanks for the warm reception of the Minister.
