| During the week dedicated to the European Union (1 to 9 May) the exposition of our country at the World Exhibition was visited by the alltime high number of people – about 90 thousand, and the total number of visitors to Lithuania’s pavilion since the opening of the Exhibition is about 300 thousand people. Various events and campaigns were organised during the week initiated by the delegation of the European Commission to Japan. One of the most popular campaigns was attaching seals to the EU “passports”. All visitors of the Exhibition having visited five of the pavilions of the EU Member States and collected their seals in “the passport” were given special prizes from the delegation of the European Commission. |

| 1 May was the beginning of the week dedicated to the European Union at EXPO 2005 World Exhibition. It was organised by the delegation of the European Commission to Japan. Europa Magazine published by the delegation provided a brief introduction of all the EU Member States participating in EXPO 2005 in the Japanese language. The EU “passports” with basic information about the Community were also issued to the visitors of the World Exhibition. Looking through the pages of “the passport” the visitors could learn the capitals of the EU Member States, their population, areas and also learn such phrases as “Thank you” and “Hello” in all the EU languages. “This project should promote interest in the European Union, its goals and values and encourage the visitors to come to the pavilions of all the EU Member States at EXPO 2005”, the representative of the delegation of the European Commission to Japan Silvia Kofler said at the press conference. In Spain’s pavilion it started the campaign of attaching seals to the EU “passports”. |

The main theme of this largest exhibition of the 21st century is the wisdom of nature. “If the interest does not go down and so far it has been growing, we will have a million visitors during the six months”, the Commissioner General of the Lithuanian exposition Romas Jankauskas says. |
